I’m a red lipstick loving New Yorker, enjoying the good life in the south. Charlotte to be exact. I juggle a full time career at a fortune 500 company, while trying to master my little corner of the digital space.

My mom lost her battle with cancer on May 20th, 2017. Since then, it’s been a whirlwind of sorrow and trying to pick up the pieces. I’ve wanted to quit my corporate America job, and also wanted to delete my blog and go hide under a rock for a long, long time. Before my mom died, she told me that she wanted me to continue to be brave and to do all of the things that bring me joy. Blogging is one of them. So, instead of deleting my blog and hiding from the pain, I have decided to give it all that I have.

Here’s how the blog started…

In 2013, I grabbed a pair of scissors and chopped all of my relaxed hair off. Shortly after, I created NickyGoGlam as a platform to help other natural hair women with their hair growth journey and self-confidence. It’s  been an amazing ride thus far, and I’ve connected with thousands of naturals across the world. Through blogging and connecting with awesome readers like you, I have had the opportunity to be featured on several platforms like Natural Hair Mag, Natural Hair Daily, Unconditioned Roots, Natural Root Sista’ and more.

Fast forward to 2017- Social media supporters, daily subscribers and providing valuable content has enabled this blog to grow exponentially. Because of this, NickyGoGlam expanded to include lifestyle content, and I couldn’t be happier. In addition to having conversations with you about healthy hair and the latest beauty product, I get to share my strategies on creating a life that is balanced, and not only looks good but truly feels good to you. Now what’s better than healthy hair and a happy life!?

If you’re not sure where to start, no worries, I’ve got you covered. You can start by checking out some easy tips on how to grow natural hair, or you can take a glance at my favorite hair products. If you’re a blogger, I’ve shared some tips on how social media can help you with your readership and building your audience. Check it out here. Alright, lace up your boots and let the party begin!

If you’re on social, let’s be friends! It’s NickyGoGlam everywhere.

It’s all about balancing the weight. Through hard work, living your purpose, and consistency, I believe that anyone can create the life they desire. Mine is to touch the lives of women all over the world.

  1. Nik, I am so incredibly proud of you! You are fearless & brave & I absolutely love this site!! Big things are coming & I’m so happy to follow you on your journey! Lots of love always!!! xoxo

  2. You are so inspiring! Wow. I love your blog and am happy we found each other in this big internet world! I recently chopped my hair off too and completely understand where you are coming from with that. It’s amazing when we finally learn to love the way our hair naturally looks without any pretense. Very beautiful and I look forward to seeing more from you =) P.S. you should consider doing a tutorial on false eye lashes. I cannot for the life of me get my act together with them. They don’t stay on for too long so I know I am doing something wrong 😦

    1. Aw, thank you so very much. I try to be. I find inspiration in many things, and I hope to inspire others. I am glad to have found you too!! It was meant to be. 🙂

So, you chopped your hair off as well? Were you terrified like I was? It is an amazing feeling when you can look in the mirror and just be happy with yourself. Lord knows I have struggled with this, especially when I was in my early 20’s. I felt so, blah! I didn’t like my skinny legs, my skin, my hair. But the older I get, the more I love myself.

Yes! I am considering doing videos. I just got an amazing camera to film with. Lashes at first seem to be hard to learn, but I’m telling you, practice makes perfect. Just like with cooking, right? If they are not staying on for very long, you might need to change the glue that you are using. I use DUO. I posted a picture of it in my recent Va-Va-Voom post. Also, put extra glue on the ends of the lashes. The inner and outer part. Those are the areas that lift easily, so more glue should do the trick. Keep practicing! 🙂

  3. Hi Nicky
