Chunky Twistout and Burgundy Lips

It’s officially fall and that means putting my bright pink or orange lipsticks aside and welcoming the darker colors. I will still wear my bright red lipstick since that’s a staple and year round favorite of mine. However, I’m incorporating more warm tones, especially anything in the plum and burgundy family!

I was heading out to a birthday dinner for a new friend of mine, Melissa J. Nixon! She’s a blogger, inspirational speaker and writer. Check her out here.

I wanted a vampy look for this occasion and big, fluffy hair. My old navy lace top inspired me to wear one of my favorite lip colors- Rimmel London lipstick in Bordeaux. This is a dupe to the more expensive NARS brand. Their Bordeaux lipstick retails at Sephora for $32.00. The Rimmel line retails around $4.99 and is sold at various drug stores. Now, that’s a huge difference in pricing, but don’t let the inexpensive price tag fool you! The Rimmel line does the job. The color is rich, it’s well pigmented and it lasts for several hours.

The dinner was great, and although my hair was ruined by the rain, my lipstick stayed on even after I ate some of the delicious birthday cake!

What are some of your favorite fall lip colors?

  1. I LOVE THIS LOOK! I need to try this color. I love dark colors for the fall and all year round. I’m weird like that lol. I’m gonna try the drug store brand. 32 is way too much for any lipstick in my opinion.

    1. Hi Jess! I use cantu shea butter leave in conditioning cream and jojoba oil. I apply the cream first and then the oil on top in small sections at a time. I always spritz my hair with water when moisturizing.

Please, share your thoughts!
