My blogger-to-blogger mini interview and Liebster blog award nomination

liebster blog award

Hi guys! I’ve been nominated for a Liebster blog award. Yippee :)! To all my fellow WordPress bloggers, you might be familiar with this  blog nomination. For those that are unfamiliar, the Liebster blog award is geared towards new bloggers that inspire others and who have less than 200 followers. I was nominated for this award last month by a really sweet blogger that I follow. Her name is Kayla and her blog is msperfectpatty.com.  Do check it out! Unfortunately, at the time when Kayla nominated me, I had already exceeded the 200 followers mark, so I could not participate in the nomination rules :(. Thank you so much Kayla for nominating my blog!

Another awesome WordPress blogger, who I affectionately refer to as my blog sister, was recently nominated for the Liebster award. Her name is Muhala and her blog is testimonyandtruth.wordpress.com. Please check it out!

When you are nominated, you are to return the favor, and mention other bloggers that inspire you. Well, as I was reading through Muhala’s post, scrolling through the names of bloggers she selected, I came across my name. Um, say what now? I thought I had misread what I was looking at, but nope, my name was there.  I was so touched because ever since she and I became blog buddies, I have felt really close and connected to her. Her writing skills are impeccable, and I really relate to her posts. They are very inspirational and full of hope and faith. I have been telling her that she should write a novel. I was humbled to see that she finds me and my blog inspiring because I too am inspired by her.

She has chosen 10 questions for me to answer, and I have listed them below. Muhala, I am forever grateful. Thank you so very much for selecting me! I am sending you tight hugs, I hope you can feel it! 🙂

1. What is your blog about?

My blog is about my life.  I write about my love for beauty, natural hair care, fashion and more. I go in to detail about myself and my blog on my bio page. You can click here to read my bio :).

2. What do you most want your readers to take away from your blog?

To be fearless! To believe in themselves, and their talents and to chase their dreams and turn them into a reality.

3. What are three (3) things that inspire you?

I am inspired by experts in the field of makeup artistry.  Tatiana Ward, also known as @BeatFaceHoney is one of my biggest inspirations. She was a freelance makeup artist, turned celebrity makeup artist. She now works for Nicki Minaj. Her rise to success was far from glamorous, but she gave it everything she had and has been abundantly blessed for her courage.

I also find inspiration in happy endings (not the sexual kind!).  Stories of hardships followed by triumphant victories. That is what I mean by happy endings. You might think your life is hard, but there are so many people in this world going through very trying times, who fight to keep their heads above water each day.

Lastly, I find inspiration in the eyes of children. Especially my beautiful son. He is a good kid, smart, and eager to learn. He looks up to me and he inspires me to keep pushing and chasing my dreams.

4. What are you most passionate about?

I am incredibly passionate about so many things.  My relationship with God, being an amazing mother, building my makeup artistry business are the first few things that come to mind.

5. What do you want people to say about you after you’re gone?

I do not like to think about this, much less talk about it. But I would love for people to say that I was really helpful, and instrumental in their lives, loving and giving.

6. What do your friends say about you behind your back?

Behind my back, I think my friends say that they can count on me. I am always there to listen, and give advice. I really care about my friends and really give them 100% of my love.

7. What are your three best qualities?

I think my 3 best qualities are that I am very loving, nurturing and smart. Is it frowned upon to refer to yourself as smart? I hope not!

8.  What food (s) do you love endlessly?

Thai food is my all time favorite! I. love. it. I also really like oxtails, with rice and peas, and my boyfriend’s pancakes. He makes the best pancakes, hands down!

9. What’s one thing you would change about yourself, if you could?

Oh man, this is a very loaded question! Ha-ha. Phew. I worry a lot.  I worry about life, about the what-if’s, about  making good, sound decisions for my future. It causes me to feel stressed at times. I wish that I did not have the worrying gene!

10. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was a child, I really wanted to be a teacher!

I love answering questions and sharing pieces of me with you all. Let me know your thoughts.

With Love,

  1. Nice interview. You are so funny. i like that you talk about God on your blog. A lot of people are afraid to mention him in a public forum

  2. Love it, Nicky! I am gushing over here, and sooo touched by your kind words. I loved your interview answers, too, but tell your boyfriend he hasn’t tasted my pancakes yet, ha ha!!:-)

Also, I love, love, love Thai food…any Asian cuisine, really, It’s my favorite, and I’m always in the mood for it! I am thankful for your optimism and cheery outlook on everything. I sense you are an overcomer, and I like that! This post is chock full of so many good things. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer the questions and blog about it.

Sending you tight hugs right back!! 🙂

    • Muhala♥♥♥♥!!

Girl, you are going to make me cry! You’re welcome, and thank you for your kindness. We are 2 sappy souls. Haha. I will tell my honey that he has been challenged to a pancake battle. I struggle with making pancakes. It’s quite embarrassing 😦 .

I can eat Thai food any day of the week! It is slap-yo-mama good.

Well, you are very skilled at sensing that I am an “overcomer”. my life has been rich in unpredictability, but I stay close to God, and I pray like it’s the only option I have! Thank you, thank you for just being you! Alright, I’ll stop now because this is getting long. I don’t want folks to start rolling their eyes or busting out the kleenex. Ha! 🙂

  3. Nik, I’ve always told you I think that you’re fearless & a total inspiration to me & many others. So proud of how far you’ve come. Lots of love always!!! Xoxoxo
