Let’s Jam

While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.

Hannah , my beautiful God-daughter spent the night with me, and I had the pleasure of doing her hair before church one Sunday. I have a son, and the extent of his hair care needs are bi-weekly trips to the barber shop. Can you say…B.O.R.I.N.G? As a woman, trips to the barbershop are truly no fun at all. Needless to say, I was super stoked when I got the opportunity to do some hair, honey!

Hannah’s hair is very soft and fine. She’s also natural. After being in the pool the previous day, her hair was very frizzy and needed to be tamed. That’s where I came in. Filled with excitement, I whipped out my brush, comb and pulled an oldie but goodie out of my stash. JAM, that’s right, Jam. This product has been on the shelves for decades. Ever wonder why? Because it works miracles! I used the Jam to slick her hair up and her edges were laid and smooth. She wanted something funky, so I created a little zig-zag part, and gave her 2 buns on either side. She was super happy, and loved her hair. She asked me how she could get her hair to stay exactly the way it was, no frizz, just shiny and neat. I told her she would have to take special care of it by tying her hair down at night to prevent the style from being ruined.

She couldn’t stop looking in the mirror, and also received lots of compliments about her hair, which made her smile. I styled some hair, honey!

With Love,

  1. Nice style. And she is cute. I do my daughters hair like this all the time. But I can’t get the part as neat as you did. Good job on this.

    1. Hi Michelle,

Thanks! Is your daughter natural? It’s harder to get the part straight with hair that has a good amount of texture. It’s much easier on hair that has been straightened. Her hair is pretty fine, so it was easy to get it straight!

Please, share your thoughts!
